on 10 July 2011.
This year, Local 1775 members will relay for firefighters and their loved ones lost to cancer. Our team will rally in support of one of our very own, a Firefighter from Marin County Fire Department and Local 1775 Executive Board Member who was diagnosed with occupational caused brain cancer in February 2011. While his treatment is in progress and prognosis looks hopeful, we want to make sure that this year all of our brothers and sisters (each and every off-duty Marin firefighter!) comes out to join the Relay.
It is in times like these that our true colors show. In our line of work, the term "Brother" or "Sister" is sometimes thrown about cheaply. Local 1775 asks each and every Marin firefighter to join our efforts to our colleagues that we are here for him and that the Fire Service cannot be touched when it comes to raising money to help people who need a little hand up! PLEASE MAKE 2011 THE YEAR YOU STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND SAY "I AM HERE TO HELP!"
We are making a difference by teaming up to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. Saving lives from cancer starts one team, one participant, and one dollar at a time.
At the Relay For Life event, our team will camp out overnight and take turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
By joining or donating to our team, you will be a part of a life-changing event that gives everyone in the community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.
Please support our efforts to fight cancer by joining our team or making a donation. The impact we can make together is much greater than what any of us could do alone!
