Marin Firefighters Fight Cancer

Fighting cancer is a team effort. The impact we can make together is much greater than what any of us could do alone.

In the Firefighting Profession, we frequently encounter people battling cancer. Often times, they are friends, family and co-workers.

Firefighters have a high probability of getting job-related cancer. It is a job hazard that we must accept in order to protect the community. The Relay For Life is one way that we, as a Family, can give back and help not only the community but our very own in the fight against cancer!

Our team name is F.I.R.E. It stands for Family, Integrity, Respect and Ethics. It is our mission, values and code wrapped up in an acronym descriptive of our profession. F.I.R.E. is a way of living our lives; of doing business and of caring for one another. We are fighting cancer now while we can for we know that the all too real probability is that one day, we too, will be battling cancer personally! We do what we can now so that we may be supported later.

That’s what you do when you are part of a herd! You look after each other.
